But, not everyone agrees that the violence is part of a turf war over organised crime. Some see race and the so-called 'integration problem' as the chief cause.

Sheckler of Murraysville, Westmoreland County.
State police said Stoltzfus and several other members of the Pagans motorcycle gang abducted Sheckler and her boyfriend, Glenn W. Eckert, 20, of Robesonia, from a parked car at a lookout point on Skyline Drive on Mount Penn.
Investigators said the men took turns raping Sheckler and later killed her and Eckert in Dreamland Park, a shuttered amusement park on Pricetown Road in Ruscombmanor Township.
The motorcycle gang had a clubhouse at the park, and some of them were staying there at the time of the slayings.
Sheckler was choked and struck on the head with a large rock, according to court testimony. Eckert was shot.
The only other person convicted in the case was Robert J. Martinolich, of Selden, N.Y., who is serving a life sentence at the state prison at Laurel Highlands in Somerset.
Martinolich, who is 63 years old, was convicted of the fi rstdegree murder of Eckert.
Testimony during the trials in 1970 revealed that about a half-dozen members of the motorcycle gang spent the night at the Kutztown Fair and then drove around the city looking for women."

Gillani boasted of this to people in Toronto who crossed him, and Friday two people affiliated with the organized crime group said they were happy to see Gillani leave British Columbia.
Gillani ran afoul of the biker group for talking too much about what he was doing – he told people he was laundering money. He left B.C. in 2005, shortly after he received a severe beating, though not from a member of the Hells Angels.
A man who claimed he was owed $150,000 by Gillani spotted the dodgy financier coming out of Smiley O'Neils pub in Vancouver. The man, who spoke to the Star Friday – he does not want his name used because he was never investigated by police for the beating – confronted Gillani, threw him into a stone fountain, breaking his cheekbone and nose. Shortly after that, Gillani started carrying a gun, a .22 pistol. Police on a routine stop discovered the gun and charged Gillani with carrying a weapon. The bike gang's chapters in Quebec were paralyzed a year ago after over 100 members were arrested in anti-gang raids. Seizure orders by the Justice Department of the gang's bunkers left them off-limits and unused.
Most of the gang members are in jail and unable to pay the property taxes.
'The Hells Angels owe us a little more than $12,000 altogether,' said Ivan Toutant, a spokesman for the city of Trois-Rivières.
The city has yet to receive the gang's property taxes for 2009, said Toutant, and nothing has been paid for 2010. He said that interest continues to accumulate.
According to Toutant, the building in Trois-Rivières will likely be repossessed and sold.
'We have to wait until the end of the jurisdictional procedures before the sale of the bunker,' said Toutant.
The Hells Angels also owe more than $2,000 in property tax on the bunker in Sherbrooke"

Four feet phallus causes offence in North Yorkshire village but shopkeeper vows to ‘Free Willy’

A North Yorkshire shopkeeper has had a key piece of stock confiscated by North Yorkshire Police after it caused a string of complaints.

Jason Hadlow, owner of Simply Dutch at Leeming Bar, has been issued with a public order offence and will face a fine if he wants to reclaim the garden ornament.

Jason recently received a new range of garden furniture including a four feet penis-shaped obelisk which went on display in Simply Dutch’s window at the end of March.

Following complaints from local people, North Yorkshire Police visited the store, removed the offending ornament, worth in the region of £200, and issued Jason with a public order offence for ‘displaying a sign or item liable to cause harassment, alarm or distress.’

Jason must now pay £80 by Friday 9th April to retrieve the item from Northallerton Police Station, or could face court action. However, the entrepreneur, from Yarm, is refusing to back down stating that the phallus is in keeping with Simply Dutch’s quirky ethos and has even started a ‘Free Willy’ campaign in store and on Facebook.

Jason said: “The world is a crazy place and I'm sure the local constabulary has better things to do. It’s just another example of overzealous policing and I couldn’t believe they were serious. We might have had one or two complaints but most of the customers loved it as they know what Simply Dutch is like and the type of things we stock.

“We’ve had naked stone strippers, Roman and Greek-style statues, African pothouses and all sorts of other weird pieces of furniture in the window which haven’t caused such a stir. So I am a little shocked, to say the least, that an £80 ransom is being demanded for the phallus

Now they have been ordered to leave, the city council must compensate them for the construction of a new clubhouse.

Blair Alford, 55, told court Thursday he was sorry for delivering 12 ounces of cocaine to a police informant known as "Agent 22" in a Lindenwoods parking lot in July 2009. Alford told court he was helping out someone he knew, but acknowledged he delivered the drugs.
Crown attorney Chris Mainella said Alford was motivated by greed to participate in the drug dealing.
"He only has himself to blame," said Mainella.
Mainella said the drug deal came together after Alford and four other men came together at a Lindenwoods Moxie’s restaurant in early July 2009 to discuss a cocaine trade. The deal involved a Vancouver-based associate of the Independent Soldiers gang, Daniel Hawkins, who was also arrested in the Project Divide bust.
In the days leading up the deal, court heard police collected a flurry of Blackberry PIN messages between Hawkins and the police informant setting up the deal.
On July 28, 2009, Alford got out of a GMC truck in the parking lot of a Lindenwoods Rona and then sat in a car with the informant, counting out drugs and cash, Mainella said.  Alford used an empty can of infant formula to carry the cocaine, and police watched him return to his Knowles Avenue shop with the cash, the court heard.
"He didn’t need to get involved with the likes of Mr. Hawkins to make ends meet," Mainella said of Alford, who owns a gravel trucking business.
Alford turned himself into police at the Public Safety Building days after the bust was announced.
Court heard the case against Alford relies on an unidentified police informant, who will receive up to $450,000 for helping officers video and audiotape suspects carrying out drug and gun deals. The police informant is now in the witness protection program, court heard. He became involved with the police because he was motivated by financial interest.
"Agents are what they are," said Mainella. "We don’t dress them up in crinoline."
Court of Queen’s Bench Justice William Burnett accepted a joint recommendation submitted by Mainella and defence lawyer Stephen Friesen. Alford will do a total of 40 months in jail, including three more years in custody and four months he’s already served.
"It’s not Freedom 55," said Mainella. Alford must also submit a DNA sample and have a 10-year weapons prohibition, Burnett ruled.
Court heard Thursday the wispy white-haired man has suffered financial hardship due to publicity around his arrest, which has strained his family.
"He insists he did not have financial benefit," said Friesen.
Alford has a daughter who attends classes at University of Manitoba who has had to work extra to support her family, court heard. No relatives were in court Thursday.
"I don’t really know why I did it," Alford said, adding later: "I’m very sorry for what I did
